BP Profile Search › Own members directory

AlexGuest
I am following this tutorial on your website to create an additional members directory:
https://dontdream.it/bp-profile-search/custom-directories/This only works on a complete blank page with only Buddypress installed. When I try to insert it with the Elementor shortcode widget OR the block editor shortcode widget and switch on your plugin it doesn’t work.
Then the page loads and loads and after a while I get this message:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 587202560 bytes) (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in wp-includes/class-wp-object-cache.php on line 146Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 587202560 bytes) (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in Unknown on line 0
All plugins are deactivated instead of BP search and buddypress. No cache plugin was installed.
Any solution for this?
AlexGuestAfter my post I read on another post that BP Classic should solve the problem which is true.
Any forecasts how this will be in the future?
Do you work on a solution without the BP classic plugin or may the BP developers may chance that post type stuff introduced in BP 12 again?andreaPlugin AuthorHi Alex,
I’m not familiar with Elementor, but I think you can’t edit a BuddyPress page with Elementor, and a custom member directory is somehow a BuddyPress page.
I guess the solution is to avoid using Elementor to create a custom members directory.
AlexGuestYeah, Elementor unfortunately does not work together with some of the BP pages. The members directory is one of them.
But my question was about the future of the bp classic plugin. I would like to get rid of it, but some things are not working without it. Your plugin for example or my theme’s sidebar (Astra).
Therefore I hope the classic plugin is supported for a long time.
andreaPlugin AuthorHi Alex,
I’m interested in making BP Profile Search able to work with or without BP Classic. Could you please detail the problem you are having with your theme?
AlexGuestOn Astra I only can insert the sidebar on individual pages if the pages are physically accessible.
Without the bp classic plugin this is not the case therefore not possible.
I might insert the sidebar hardcoded but then you have to understand the bp core code which I don’t because of the lack of documentation.
andreaPlugin AuthorI see, but you’re right, that depends on the new post type introduced in BuddyPress 12.
If you wish I could inform the BuddyPress team, quoting this conversation, maybe they can suggest a workaround.
andreaPlugin AuthorBy the way, a possible solution is to use a custom directory, made with
[bps_directory]
, instead of the standard members directory, because a custom directory is a page. -
