    Hi,

    How i understand this plugin works is it searches for active members only?

    I have a user database which is imported into WordPress using Next Active Directory and as the site is not yet live and those users have never logged on it does not show their profiles in the search results. Though these users have never logged on but have a user account, I can still tag a profile when mentioning them in the forums section of BuddyPress.

    As and when the site is live and those users have all logged on to use the site will their profiles become ‘Active’ as such and will then therefore be searchable using this plugin?

    Thanks,

    Hi Matthew,

    In your Members Directory you can select from the Order By: drop-down Last Active, Newest Registered or Alphabetical.

    If you choose Alphabetical you’ll see all your members, otherwise you’ll see only those that have been recently active (no members at this time, and more members when they will eventually start to log in).

    Thank you,

    Is there a way to set the default to sort alphabetically?

    Thanks,

    I think the only way is to modify the order of the options in the Order By: drop-down. You can find it in the Members Directory template:

    buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/index.php

    Hello Andrea,

    This is related to the same problem I was having in a different thread. I have 18 members but only 11 show as “Active” or “All members”. Is this because they haven’t logged in yet? Is there a way to make it so that all registered members are reflected? Thank you!

    Hello Lane,

    If you can see all your 18 members when you select Order By: Alphabetical, that means that seven members haven’t logged in yet.

    To force your BuddyPress template to show all your members, open:

    buddypress/bp-templates/bp-nouveau/buddypress/members/members-loop.php

    then locate the line:

    <?php if ( bp_has_members( bp_ajax_querystring( 'members' ) ) ) : ?>

    and replace it with:

    <?php if ( bp_has_members( bp_ajax_querystring( 'members' ). '&type=alphabetical' ) ) : ?>

    The downside is that, after this change, the other ordering options will stop working.
