    Hi,

I want to filter the results using a category. Is it possible? I have about 10 different categories and the form is in a page that can be accessed by user that belong to a category, creating a field to select a category wouldn’t be an option.

I also want to know if it is possible to add a message saying that the search returned no results if that is the case.

    Thank you!

    Hi Maria,

What is exactly your user category? Is it the BuddyPress member type, or a WordPress role, or are you using a specific plugin for user categories?

    Hello Maria,

So you’re using the BuddyPress member type, the technical name for your user category.

If you want to add the member type to one of your search forms, when you click on the Field drop-down menu go to the bottom and select Member type under User taxonomies.

Please let me know how that works for you!

    Hi Andrea,
    Thanks or your prompt answer.
What I want is to filter the directory according a user category.

[bps_directory field_35=”Male” field_56=”Married”], here you filter a directory using different fields. I want to filter the directory using a category. Is it possible?

    Hi Maria,

    Sure it is:

    [bps_directory field_35="Male" field_56="Married" bp_member_type="whatever"]

Replace whatever with the singular name of your user category.

Thank you very much, is it also possible to add a saying that the search returned no results if that is the case?

That’s a built-in feature. Anyway if something doesn’t work for you as expected, just let me know and I’ll try to help.
