Is there a known conflict with the baked in Profile search functionality of the BuddyBoss platform? – seems these are very similar – if we have both plugins installed then the BuddyBoss version does not work (invalid post type error) – think they are sharing settings (or something) – always better to work with the theme’s version (generally) but it seems to have less functionality out of the box – we’d like to create a full page extended style filtering / search option vs only in a sidebar widget – bottom line is we’d need template customization either way – so just bring to understand which way to go / option to use
AND we too have the issue with the Gender field (though it’s registered and set-up properly) not showing up as an option when building the search form? (saw this posted by a previous user – but no solution) – thanks in advanceHi Steve,
As you correctly noted, BuddyBoss contains a basic version of BP Profile Search, so you have a choice between using the built-in version or the public BP Profile Search plugin; using both at the same time causes error messages as in your case.
I suggest one of the following solutions:
1) To use the basic built-in version, deactivate the BP Profile Search plugin;
2) To use the public BP Profile Search plugin, deactivate the built-in copy; go to BuddyBoss -> Settings -> Profiles and uncheck the checkbox Enable advanced profile search on the members directory.
About the Gender field type, in a few days I’m going to release a BP Profile Search update to support it.
thanks Andrea – more or less what I thought – prefer the flexibility of the public version as the BB version is built directly into a template file and not even accessible in widget form – problem is that plugin does not adopt the styling of the theme (or enough) – so customizing either way – thanks again for the insight and plugin – the Gender fix on update will be much appreciated, thanks in advance
